President Hinckley Dedication

Last night I must admit I was shocked when the breaking news said that President Hinckley had passed away. For some reason, in my head, I always felt like he would be around, even though I know that really wasn't true. My stomach sank and my heart was heavy after hearing the news. President Hinckley is by far the prophet I remember most and has made such an impact on our lives. He will be greatly missed. A friend posted this video on MySpace and I wanted to share it here since most of my family isn't on MySpace. It is very touching.

Winter Fun

Last week Chris had promised the kids they would got sledding. He wasn't able to get home in time with the short days, so I suggested that we try ice skating instead. This is a MUCH more difficult winter activity - for all involved. When we had our skates on and were on our way out on the ice they had everyone get off and brought the Zamboni out to smooth things out. That definitely made it interesting for our very beginner family. I was the only one who had ever been ice skating before. I started out with Xadun and Chris started out with Chaetun. That was hard!!

Xadun couldn't keep his feet under him, so I ended up holding him up most of the time and he's a heavy kid. We only made it about half way around the rink when I decided I had the wrong child.

Chaetun was having an easier time keeping his feet under him and could push himself along a little bit.

So, I switched. Chris took Xadun and I took Chaetun. Much easier this way.

We only made it around the rink once or twice with the kids and they were done. Mine and Chris' ankles were also feeling done. So, we left the kids out with Grandma and Chris and I went out and went around a few times with just the two of us (and a hundred other people). I thought it was pretty fun, but something everyone would need a little more training for.

Christmas...Really Late

I know, I know, I'm really late in getting these up, but I didn't want to forget about Christmas, so here's some pictures.

Chaetun had a speaking part in his Christmas program this year. He did really well. Also attached to this video is a cute little dance routine that some kids did. Chaetun wasn't in it, but I thought it was really cute, so I included it.

We had a full house at Christmas this year. Not only did we have us and my mom, we also had Chris' parents as well as my grandparents. It was a lot of fun and the kids enjoyed having all their grandmas and grandpas there.

Chaetun's favorite gift was this Transformer's helmet that changes his voice. He took it to school for show and tell and it continues to get played with daily, unlike most of the toys.

Xadun really likes his Thomas the Train laptop. It's a little complicated for his age, but he'll learn. He also like the game he and Chaetun got. Oh, and we can't forget the slippers.

Brekan wasn't too interested in unwrapping presents. He only opened a couple and his brothers kindly opened the rest for him. He was often more interested in his brother's presents

But more important was breakfast
